作为最具国际影响力的中国管风琴演奏家,沈媛曾7次获得国际、国内比赛第一名;多次担任世界大赛评委;她于柏林大教堂举办独奏管风琴音乐会,完成华人在世界文化遗产文物名琴上的首演;2017年沈媛获得隶属于日内瓦音乐比赛联盟的国际一级赛事、管风琴界奖金最高、被誉为“管风琴界奥林匹克”之称的加拿大国际管风琴比赛获得大奖与“最佳观众评审奖”,这是中国选手第一次获此类殊荣;沈媛的参赛过程被拍成纪录片《管风琴之梦》首映于多伦多纪录片电影节,并获得美国公众电视网(PBS)与艾美奖联合举办的“独立镜头纪录片奖”。
沈媛活跃于世界演奏舞台,足迹遍布德国、法国、奥地利、俄罗斯、意大利、荷兰、丹麦、美国、加拿大、日本、香港、泰国、埃及、马来西亚等20多个国家与地区,演奏过多台世界名琴,如:柏林大教堂、维也纳金色大厅、蒙特利尔圣母院,蒙特利尔圣约瑟芬大教堂、荷兰哈莱姆圣巴弗大教堂等40余台世界文化遗产等级的管风琴。
作为学术研究者,沈媛出版了全球第一本华语管风琴学术著作《管风琴大字典》;受鼓浪屿风琴博物馆委托,沈媛独立完成全部展陈大纲的撰写。
沈媛受邀于美国华盛顿肯尼迪艺术中心录制个人管风琴演奏专辑CD,曲目跨越从巴赫到近现代的大量作品,其曲目技术性与音乐性之高均受到肯尼迪艺术中心的极高评价的赞誉。该唱片被英国音乐杂志《管风琴家评论》(Organists Review 2018-09)的高度评价为5星满分,并评价:“沈媛博士是活跃于亚洲的充满活力的管风琴音乐推动者,她表现出无可挑剔的华丽音乐性和超高技术性(后者使CD中的门德尔松一曲闪闪发光)。同样重要并令听众欣慰的是,她的音乐有着庄严而细腻的敏感,明智而适度的自由。 我给予这张CD最高分。”著名英国管风琴杂志《合唱与管风琴》(Choir & Organ 2018-09)评论道:“沈媛在这张CD的演奏令人印象深刻、睿智、令人着迷,她完美的奏法使得这台管风琴适合各种时代风格。”
沈媛创立了《中国管风琴名琴系列唱片》,现已出版《国家大剧院》《广州星海音乐厅》《杭州大剧院》《广西文化艺术中心》《郑州大剧院》。
作为知识传播者,在看理想APP主讲《认识音乐:32次音乐提升之旅》节目,讲解音乐史,作曲法,音乐美学,演奏法等相关知识。创立了《知识音乐会》项目,以“音乐厅中的大学”为目标,与多位高校著名学者合作将音乐与全球史、经济学、艺术史、哲学、法学等学科相结合举办讲+演音乐会。
作为管风琴作曲家,沈媛凭借作品《等待戈多》《B-A-C-H》,于2014、2018年两次入选哈莱姆国际管风琴音乐节“青年作曲家计划”。作曲项目“中国管风琴原创力”创始人。
作为管风琴的活动策划者,沈媛自2013年起作为艺术总监每年一届举办“北京国际管风琴音乐节”,至今已经成功举办8届。该音乐节与历史最悠久、规模最大的管风琴业界盛事“哈莱姆管风琴音乐节”建立战略合作伙伴关系,并与20余所管风琴国际名校建交。在音乐节的基础上,沈媛于2017年成立了中国第一个管风琴公益学术研究组织——中国管风琴研究会。现任协和医学院、广州星海音乐厅、广西文化艺术中心、郑州大剧院、杭州大剧院管风琴音乐总监。
作为管风琴教育者,沈媛任职中央音乐学院管风琴教授,培养了中国第一位自主教育的国际管风琴比赛第一名,以及超过百余人次的管风琴国际、国内比赛各类奖项获得者。
4岁开始跟随父亲-中国电子管风琴专业教育创始人-沈晓明教授学习钢琴、管风琴,10岁进入沈阳音乐学院附中,16岁考入中央音乐学院本科,20岁保送中央音乐学院硕士研究生,22岁以优秀毕业生身份留校任教,29岁评为副教授,37岁评为教授。沈媛先后获得两个博士学位——德国柏林艺术大学首位华人管风琴演奏博士(Konzertexamen)师从于Leo van Doeselaar教授;日本东京圣德大学管风琴博士(Ph.D),师从于松居直美教授。两个博士学位均获教育部学位认证,是我国音乐界为数不多的双博士获得者。自大学起学习作曲,师从国际著名作曲大师秦文琛教授。

As the most internationally influential Chinese organist, Shen Yuan has won first place in international and national competitions seven times and has often served as a judge for world competitions. She held a solo organ concert at the Berlin Cathedral, marking the first performance by a Chinese artist on a heritage-listed organ. In 2017, Shen Yuan won the grand prize and "Richard-Bradshaw Audience Award" at the Canadian International Organ Competition. Her competition journey was documented in the film "Pipe Dream," which premiered at the Toronto Documentary Film Festival and won the "Independent Lens Documentary Award" from PBS and the Emmy Awards.
Shen Yuan has performed on world stages across over 20 countries and regions, including Germany, France, Austria, Russia, Italy, the Netherlands, Denmark, the United States, Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Egypt, and Malaysia. She has played on great organs such as those at Berlin Cathedral, Vienna Musikverein, Montreal's Notre-Dame Basilica, St. Joseph's Oratory, and Haarlem's St. Bavo Church.
As a scholar, Shen Yuan published the world's first Chinese academic organ book "Organ Dictionary". She was also commissioned by the Gulangyu Organ Museum to independently write all exhibition outlines.
Shen Yuan was invited to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., to record a solo organ album CD, featuring a wide range of works from Bach to contemporary pieces. The technical and musical qualities of her performances received high praise. The album was highly rated by the British music magazine "Organists Review" (Organists Review 2018-09) with five stars, which commented: "Dr. Shen,an energetic promoter of organ music across the Far East, performs impeccably with panache and virtuosity (the latter aspect making the Mendelssohn sparkle).But,equally important and gratifying, she plays with stately sensitivity and a judicious amount of rubato.Top marks." Another British organ magazine "Choir & Organ" (Choir & Organ 2018-09) commented: "Shen's playing is impressive, intelligent and engaging and the instrument accommodates this variety of repertoire admirably.Despite the concert hall acoustics, the engineers have captured the sound with plenty of warmth and resonance."
Shen Yuan founded the "Chinese Famous Organ Series CDs," which has published albums for the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Guangzhou Xinghai Concert Hall, Hangzhou Grand Theatre, Guangxi Culture & Art Center, and Zhengzhou Grand Theatre.
As a knowledge disseminator, she hosts the "Understanding Music: 32 Musical Enhancement Journeys" program on the Vistopia APP, explaining music history, composition, music aesthetics, performance techniques, and other related knowledge. She established the "Knowledge Concert" project with the goal of "a university in the concert hall," collaborating with renowned scholars and professors from various disciplines to combine music with global history, economics, art history, philosophy, and law in lecture-concerts.
As an organ composer, Shen Yuan's works "Waiting for Godot" and "B-A-C-H" were selected twice for the Haarlem International Organ Festival's "Young Composers Program" in 2014 and 2018. She is the founder of the composition project "China's Original Organ Power."
As an organ event planner, Shen Yuan has been the artistic director of the annual Beijing International Organ Festival since 2013. The festival has established strategic partnerships with the Haarlem International Organ Festival, and has formed associations with more than 20 international organ schools. Based on the festival, Shen Yuan founded China's first public welfare academic research organization for organs—the China Organ Association—in 2017. She currently serves as the organ music director for Peking Union Medical College, Guangzhou Xinghai Concert Hall, Guangxi Culture & Art Center, Zhengzhou Grand Theatre, and Hangzhou Grand Theatre.
As an organ educator, Shen Yuan is a professor of organ at the Central Conservatory of Music, nurturing the first internationally award-winning organist trained entirely in China and over a hundred winners of various international and national organ competition awards.
Shen Yuan began studying piano and organ at the age of 4 under her father, Professor Shen Xiaoming, the founder of electronic organ education in China. At age 10, she entered the Attached Middle School of Shenyang Conservatory of Music, and at 16, she enter the bachelor study at the Central Conservatory of Music. She was recommended for the master's program at the Central Conservatory of Music at age 20 and began teaching there upon graduating with honors at age 22. She was promoted to associate professor at 29 and professor at 37. Shen Yuan holds two doctoral degrees: she was the first Chinese organ performance doctorate (Konzertexamen) at Berlin University of the Arts, Germany, under Professor Leo van Doeselaar and Erwin Wiersinga, and Ph.D. in organ from Seitoku University in Tokyo, Japan, under Professor Naomi Matsui. Both doctorates are recognized by the Ministry of Education of China, making her one of the few double-doctorate holders in China's music field. She began studying composition in college under the internationally renowned composer Professor Qin Wenchen.
